Impact of TDF Project on Nomads Families (Sanchara) in MAATHOTA project in Giddaluru Mandal of Prakasam District, AP.


Introduction
PRERANA was implementing Tribal Development Project (TDF) at Giddaluru Mandal of Prakasam District, AP since 2012. This project was planned for 500 Acres to benefit the 500 Tribal farmers.
TDF is a project of developing and utilizing natural and human resources, technologies, infrastructure facilities, institutions and organizations and governmental policies and programs to encourage and speed up improve the quality of tribal life towards self-sustenance.
As part of the project interventions PRERANA Approached 100 Nomads (Sanchara) who were having land in the Parameswara Nager (Project area), And residing in Near the Village. of but not having any attachment to the filed. PRERANA taken it as a issue and planned to convert the Nomads (Arukula Community) as Farmers. There basic livelihood was travel around the districts and Mandals and collect the falling hair and by selling that hire they were making their livelihood. Most of the time they were out of the village.
In the year 2013 DDM , Prakasam Smt.Jyouthi Srinivas also had a discussions with them. And they were expressed their requirement to take up the plantation. They need poison on land first and to get Pattadaru passbook for their land was the r Issues. And water facility also need for the plantation.


Water Facility created by the Project :
All the 80 wadi’s were supported with 8 Bare well facility and all the farmers were become a group a sharing the water from bore well. And to reserve the waster when power will be there and this water can be utilized in non availability of power , 12 water tubs were constructed with 6feet height bye using the Cement Rings. It gives very use full to the farmers.

Wadi (Horticulture) Development:
The gap between lands and the poor farmer created a great need for horticulture-based agriculture as part of farming system. TDF is a special program for the utilization of tribe’s land in to sustainable livelihood development. Under this component, By the interventions of the PRERANA under TDF, all the 80 farmers were motivated was taken up Horticulture plantations in 80acres of Tribal land in Third phase. Mango the "King of Fruits", is the leading fruit crop and sapota was the secondary crop was planted in the above said acres. As per the sanction 46 Mango plants, 28 Sapota plants apart this Karonda and henna was taken up as boarder crops bye each 40 plants.
Conclusion
Due to Interventions of the TDFI , 80 farmers (who were depending their Livelihood by way of migrating from one Mandal to another Mandal and One District to another district), now they were started to stay in one place. The first step towards sustainable livelihoods taken place. some elders were staying at the filed by creating their small Huts. If they stats to enjoy the benefits of the WADI in due course all the Members of the family may live at one place without Migration.
Its only one step to change the Nomads (Sanchara) in to the farmers. PRERANA want to assure all the families will be settle in one place and they also lead comfortable life as other tribal farmers in the project area.
